Q: When does the City Council meet?
A: The City Council sets a [Meeting Schedule] on an annual basis. They generally meet on Tuesday evenings except for the fifth Tuesday of the month. City Council meetings typically begin at 5:30 p.m. for closed sessions and at 7:00 p.m. in open session.
Q: Where does the City Council meet?
A: Meetings are held in the City Council Chambers located at 305 West Third Street.
Q: Who is on the City Council?
A:The City is governed by a five-member city council with the mayor as presiding officer. The mayor is elected at large every two years. Other members of the city council are elected at large for four year terms on an overlapping basis. [View photo's and biography's of the current city council.]
Q: How can I reach a member of the City Council?
A: Telephone the City Manger's Office at (805) 385-7430. Members of the public may also address the City Council at their weekly meetings on any topic within the subject matter jurisdiction of the City Council. Submit a Speaker Card, which can be obtained at the meeting, to the Clerk.
Q: How can I get the city council agendas and minutes?
A: The city council agendas, minutes and streaming videos are available on-line (Agendas, Minutes,Videos) or can be obtained at the City Clerk's office and the Oxnard Public Library.
Q: Are there volunteer opportunities at the city?
A: There are a total of eleven (11) Boards, Commissions, and Committees:

Applications to serve on boards, commissions, or committees are accepted any time at the City Clerk's Office. They are valid for one year from date of receipt. When an opening arises on a board, commission, or committee, the City Clerk submits the applications to the City Council for consideration and appointment. Applications can be obtained by visiting the City Clerk's office or by downloading it (Boards/Commissions/Committiees). Q: How can I obtain a passport?
A: The Oxnard Library provides [passport services].
Q: How can I obtain City records?
A: Pursuant to the 'Public Records Act,' the public may have access to a variety of documents held in the City Clerk's Office. Written requests can be submitted to the City Clerk in person, by facsimile to (805) 385-7806 or by e-mail Oxnardcty@ci.oxnard.ca.us. Copying fees are $1.25 for the first page and $.10 for each page thereafter.

A: Both from the County of Ventura, County Clerk Division.
